    ‘International Macro Trends’.

    Presentation Synopsis:

    The presentation will focus on the macro trends with the greatest expected influence on consumers’ behaviour. It will highlight the social, technological and political trends that have already started, as well as the trends expected to create longer term impacts. The talk will reference social changes in household types, the new emerging middle classes, a polarisation of consumer engagement with categories, sustainability, trust and the influence of technology on consumer interaction with products and companies.

    Honours Degree in Food Science and Technology


    Karen initially studied in the Cork Institute of Technology before transferring to University College Cork to complete her degree in food science and technology.  After graduating she moved to the UK to work for CHR Hansen in the food ingredients industry specialising in natural colours and flavours and progressing to global key account management.

    Karen joined the FMCG industry in Ireland though a category management role in Mars Ireland before moving to Superquinn as a food buyer.  She has also worked as a food service buyer for Topaz and as the Tesco senior buyer for meat, fish and poultry.

    Karen joined Bord Bia in January 2015 as Export Manager for Prepared Foods and now works to identify new business building initiatives for Irish manufacturing companies.
